During a tropical vacation, Adam meets Brett, who's young, hot, and newly single. Adam spends his days flirting and his nights sweating, but Brett isn't responding. Only on their last night together does Adam finally make his move, only to find out that there's more to the well-mannered Brett than he ever expected.
THE REVIEW
This little story was an interesting inversion on the D/s theme. Adam is on holiday with his friend Tracy, when he meets Brett. There's an immediate attraction between them but Brett isn't responding to Adam's increasingly obvious flirtation. In desperation, on the last night of the holiday, Adam takes Brett down to the beach to seduce him. Once he takes charge, Brett is happy to join in, and Adam realises that Brett is a sub. It was all done very well. Adam has never been involved in the 'lifestyle' and hasn't really got a clue as to what he is doing, so instead of the usual dom training a sub we get the sub who has to train the dom, or at least give him a few pointers.
As the story was so short, it was difficult to get a real handle on these guys. The character of Adam was easy to like especially his relaxed, easygoing nature. He likes taking charge in the bedroom, but is a bit baffled by some of the ways that Brett behaves. Brett wasn't so easy to understand, especially as we only get a small amount of his POV. The story was infused with a lot of quirky humour which always appeals to me, plus the sex scenes were a pleasing mixture of hot and tender.
My one disappointment was that the story ended very abruptly, leaving me with many questions about what was going to happen next with these guys. I wanted to know whether this was just sex, or the start of something; whether Adam was going to continue his education in the D/s lifestyle and I would have liked to be taken through all the highs and lows on the way to love between these interesting characters. This story could easily have been turned into a longer story or a novella and it was a shame that it wasn't.
Overall a short, sexy read which could have been more. It will appeal to those who like quirky, sexy stories and who aren't bothered about an abrupt ending.

I like this author a lot. I read many of his shorts on his website and some of them I wish he would turn into longer books and this is another example. I really enjoyed it but as you said, there is the "give me more" feeling at the end. But it was a fun read and I like his style so it worked very well for me.
I looked at Matthew H-T's website after reading this book and he has such a great sense of humour. What a laugh it was! I didn't read any of his free stories but the whole site was infused with a dry, witty sense of fun. I shall go back and have another look at the free stuff.
One of the stories that made me laugh the most is called Weird Things I think. VERY funny. Lots of his stuff is college kids which I know some people don't care for and they are more HFN than HEA, but I just like the style of writing and some of his characters are very engaing. There are two stories about a goth boy and university swimmer (Jason and Trent) that I would love to see as a full-length story. But hey, me and goth boys, what can I say. LOL
